PLANTS IN FIELD

Trachycarpus fortunei

Center and Eastern China.
Palm of quite short palm-shaped leaves and solitary trunk of until 10 or 12 meters high, very thick and slender and total or partially covered for kind of a brown sackcloth of fibers. It is a monoic species.
Very rustic. Prosperous in coastal areas but it is also one from the most resistant palms to the cold and the snow. It lives in the Himalaya at 2.400 m of altitude with snow during four or five months a year. You can see it for example in London, Paris, Madrid, Burgos and other points of the interior of Spain.
It is an exotic brushstroke for the gardens of the cold Spain. Also in the other end it resists a summer in the Costa del Sol to 43 and the leaves don't get dried.
Their use is ideal for public parks and private gardens.
